Will Sarah Palin Replace Ted Stevens?

No, I don’t mean in court or as a felon, although we can all hope, but what about as the Junior Republican Senator of Alaska?  The Anchorage Daily News is reporting (no, Sarah Palin can’t name this newspaper, either) that the current senate race may not be decided for weeks, but as it stands right now the incumbent Senator Ted Stevens is leading by 2 points.  This is quite surprising to me considering asshole Senator Ted Stevens was recently convicted on seven felony counts of lying about more than $250,000 in gifts and home renovations he received from corrupt oil and field services contractor Bill Allen (founder of VECO, Corp.)

Vote for Coffee – Send Someone to Court?

This election is going to be historical for reasons beyond Obama being the first African-American Presidential candidate.  This election is going to be historical because of the passion that it has raised in America and how many people have returned to the battle cry “Vote!”  Unfortunately, for some large corporations, it’s also going to be a reminder that no good deed goes unpunished.

Starbucks, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, to name a few, have all offered incentives to voters just to vote – to do their patriotic duty.  Unfortunately, some state laws consider these incentives illegal.  Georgia, for example, has it written into their law:

“Any person who gives or receives, or offers to give or receive, or participates in the giving or receiving of money or gifts for the purpose of registering as a voter, voting, or voting for a particular candidate in any primary or election shall be guilty of a felony.”
