Is Sarah Palin the Future of the Republican Party?
If you weren’t a little frightened yesterday, today might be your day. The New York Times is suggesting that “Win or Lose, Many See Palin as Future of Party.” The article goes on to say that this candidacy is her entrance to national politics and that her prospects are just begining. This seems a little premature, especially in light of how much scandal she seems to have caused, but only time will tell. From my perspective, Matthew Dowd, a former bush Strategist, summed it up best:
“She’s an attractive woman who can give a great speech, but the American public doesn’t view her much beyond that,” Mr. Dowd said. “She’s vastly unpopular among moderate and independent voters, and while she could be in a position to be popular among an increasingly smaller Republican Party, she’s got to figure out a way to extend that and figure out a way to strengthen her weaknesses.”

Down Goes Senator Stevens (R) Alaska
The Republican Party has taken it’s fair share of knocks lately, and I believe that the Senate’s longest-serving Republican, Senator Ted Stevens, is another example of why their future isn’t looking so bright. Surprisingly (NOT!) he hails from Alaska, which begs the question what’s in the water up there in Alaska – which is also home to Republican Vice-Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin.
Fond of saying “the only special interest I care about is Alaska,” Ted Stevens was convicted today on seven counts of lying about more than $250,000 in gifts and home renovations he received from corrupt oil and field services contractor Bill Allen (founder of VECO, Corp.) I guess he figures because his home is in Alaska, that was an improvement that everyone could appreciate.

McCain Screwed Up
Presidential candidate John McCain made a very big mistake, in my opinion, when asked to explain the scandal reasoning behind the Republican Party buying $150,000 in clothes, hair styling, and accessories for his running mate, Sarah Palin.
John McCain’s response to the mutltiple questions about the spending? Pretty much the same each time he was asked: “She needed clothes at the time. They’ll be donated at the end of the campaign. They’ll be donated to charity.” He didn’t have a good answer to “how” they will be donated, but frankly I’d be more upset if he had. They’ll be donated – that’s good enough for me. Well, almost. So, if they do win, what’s she going to wear then? And what about the clothes that were purchased for her family?

It could have been Sarah Palin!
For those of you that haven’t heard – probably because you could care less – Linsey Evans, reigning Miss Louisiana Teen USA, is stupid. In what may be the dumbest combination of failures in history, Lindsey Evans has been relieved of her duties as Miss Teen Louisiana, because she was caught doing an old-school dine-and-dash. Well, yes and no. In her rush to escape a $46.07 tab she left her purse behind. Which isn’t that bad all on its own, but she also left her baggie of weed inside. Doh!
In a respectable response, Paula Miles, president of pageant sponsor RPM, is quoted as saying, “Lindsey Evans has been part of an organization that believes in opportunities when earned and consequences when warranted. Due to recent circumstances, Lindsey has been relieved of her duties as Miss Louisiana Teen USA 2008 effective immediately.”
Am I the only one reading this thinking this could be about Sarah Palin? Not that I think she’s a pot-smoking, dasher, but… I’m not saying she isn’t either. It just sounds like something that she could have done before running for VP. I mean, really, before yesterday what do we know about this lady?

Sarah Palin Spent What?
The Envelope is reporting that Sarah Palin convinced the RNC to cough up a over $150,000 to improve her look and accessorize her to run with Presidential Candidate John McCain. Can you imagine what that would buy at Wal-Mart? Apparently Sarah can’t either, because her expenses include over $75,000 at Neiman Marcus – home of the $40,000 book on Formula 1 Racing. Of course, some of those expenses include clothing for her family while they are on the campaign trail, too, because those ordinary outfits just aren’t good enough.

Obama vs. McCain – the Lessor of Two Evils?
Since when did deciding a president become the lessor of two evils? Because, I don’t know about you, but it sure seems to me that neither McCain or Obama deserve to be president. Neither of them have earned my respect and looking to their VP running mates, I’m not feeling any better. Read on to see my opinions on both candidates and why they shouldn’t win.

Is Sarah Palin For Real
Listening to Sarah Palin speak is very similar to watching a good comedian. You have to listen pretty closely to catch the best humor. For some of the best, check out the YouTube.com video below.
So… needless to say it comes across to this voter that Sarah Palin is not the brightest tool in the shed. Her appearances on Saturday Night Live cemented this for me as I realized that she’s going to be the laughing stock of the United States for years to come. Add to that, if something happens to McCain she’ll become President with Pelozi as VP and my stomach turns.
