Sorry its been so long since any posts have been added, but fortunately the idiot is back and this one was too good to pass up, so here we go again. That’s right, Sarah Palin, who has previously mocked President Barack Obama as “a charismatic guy with a teleprompter” was recently photographed with talking points written on the palm of her hand. Personally, I think I’d rather have a teleprompter.

While I’m not as thrilled with our current administration as I had hoped, I am still a firm believer that America made the right choice not voting McCain/Palin into office. Now, as Palin continues her efforts to promote the National Tea Party, I’m fearful again that the puppeteers may write enough smart words on her hand to scare America into believing Palin would be a good thing for the country.

If “Energy,” “Tax,” and “Lift Americans Spirits” are at the top of your list for what comes next, then it’s important to remember that “budget cuts” was also scrawled and crossed out on Palin’s hand. What does that tell us about what’s to come if Palin is given a chance to run for office – any office – in the years to come?

Fortunately for all of us, it’s quite likely that Sarah Palin’s day-time television show will only be as long and successful as her time on the VP ticket. I’m just constantly amazed that this woman hasn’t faded into obscurity, but then I have to imagine it’s the same reason that freak-shows and carnival amusements succeed over time. She’s like a car wreck – you don’t want to watch, but you’re compelled to see the horror.

Since losing the election, Sarah Palin has apparently be slammed on the interview circuit and much what they’re looking for is dirt.  With everything flying around about her daughter, her son’s birth, and what comes next it’s no wonder that she’s a bit overwhelmed.  The following quote, from Esquire’s upcoming magazine sums up her feelings for some of the people writing about her.

“Bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie annoy me….I’ll tell you, yesterday the Anchorage Daily News, they called again to ask — double-, triple-, quadruple-check — who is Trig’s real mom,” she said, in an interview to be published in Esquire’s March issue.  “And I said, Come on, are you kidding me? We’re gonna answer this? Do you not believe me or my doctor? And they said, No, it’s been quite cryptic the way that my son’s birth has been discussed. And I thought, Okay, more indication of continued problems in the world of journalism.”

What’s most enjoyable is that’s the nugget of “news” that she holds onto.  Someone questioned the paternity of one of her children and it got out of hand – but given all the other lies and deception that exist in politics is it really that far outside the realm of possibility that she wasn’t being truthful to protect her daughter?  Any doubt?  I have a bridge to nowhere you might be interested in buying.

The best part of the whole thing?  Now the Anchorage Daily News’ editor is coming out to say that the questions were solely to help correct some of the conspiracy theories surround Sarah Palin.  After talking with teh Governor’s office the newspaper left the story unpublished because of a lack of cooperation from the Palin family.  The editor goes on to say in the newspaper and in the paper’s own blog that:

“I don’t believe we have ever published in the newspaper a story, a letter, a column or anything alleging a coverup surrounding your maternity.  In fact, my integrity and the integrity of the newspaper have been repeatedly attacked in national forums for our complicity in the ‘coverup.”

Later, he added: “…So I don’t understand the behavior of the governor’s press office. Did the governor not share my email with the press staff? Did the press staff deliberately ignore what I said in order to have a longer list of press ‘outrages’? Or are they just sloppy with details? I don’t know.”

Sarah Palin’s 15 minutes are up – lets move on already.  This woman has shown over and over again that she was an unsuitable candidate for any national office and incapable of forming a cohesive and articulate thought.

The good news, though, is that it gets better.  I’m actually quite surprised that we haven’t seen this family on Jerry Springer, but perhaps that will be next.  If you believe the RNC she’ll be running for office again at some point in the future…

So anyway, in case you were fortunate enough to miss the brief, Bristol Palin’s baby-daddy is “former high school hockey player” Levi Johnston, also 18.  His mother, Sherry, was recently arrested on multiple felony drug counts after she sent a pair of text messages to police informants discussing drug transactions.  Meanwhile, back in Wasilla, Bristol continues studying for her GED while her baby-daddy works as an apprentice electrician.  Of course, governor Sarah Palin’s office declines to comment on anything (probably for fear that it will end up on YouTube), which will simply leave us to speculate.

Can you imagine how great the white-house dinners could have been with the whole cabinet and family around.  Sarah could introduce her husband the snow bunny, her GED seeking, unmarried, welfare bound, daughter, her grand-daughter, her daughter’s baby-daddy the apprentice electrician, and perhaps even a Fathead representation of Grandma Sherry who’s presently incarcerated on drug charges.  Almost makes me think Bush wasn’t so bad.

Finally, for those of you wondering, there is no grounds for a claim of statutory rape in Alaska, because their laws are different (of course).  First, the age of consent in Alaska is 16.  Secondly, the way the Alaska laws read, statutory rape only applies to consensual sex with a minor under the age of 16 when more their ages differ by more than three years.  In other words, 20 year old man who has sex with a 15 year old girl, in Alaska, is guilty of statutory rape. A 17 year old male who has consensual sex with a 15 year old girl is not guilty of statutory rape, under Alaska law.  So much for abstinence.

What’s really hillarious to me is how ignorant she really is.  The media is playing her while the crackpot behind her is playing with my turkey dinner before stuffing it into some weird contraption.  All the while she’s rambling on about business, how the campaign trail was, and what she’s going to do for Alaska.  Heck, the only reason I like seeing Sarah Palin in the news is that I know Saturday Night Live is going to feature Tina Fey re-enacting the stupidity with an audiance laughing all the way.  Do you think John McCain is watching this thinking to himself… “thank God, it’s over.”

For a while I was so caught up in how stupid it would be for Alaskans to elect convicted felon Ted Stevens that I didn’t keep up on what this could have meant for Sarah Palin.  As I discussed in an earlier article, a win by Ted Stevens could have resulted in a special election after his getting kicked to the curb ousted by other party members.  Assuming that Alaskans were voting their ticket, the Republican Sarah Palin (with her fancy clothes) could very easily have assumed Ted Stevens seat in the senate.  What a nightmare that could have been.

Fortunately for Alaska – and probably America as a whole – Ted Stevens didn’t win his bid for re-election and Sarah Palin has lost her chance to get anywhere near the Senate this term.  Sure, that could change in the future, or if you believe in wild possibilities she could be running for President in 2012, but at this point I am hopeful that her 15 minutes of fame have passed and she’ll quietly fade into oblivion.  Heck, maybe she’ll leave her husband and run off with Joe the Plumber.  How many kids would that give them?

Every time Sarah Palin opens her mouth I cringe and now looking back I am thankful that the masses of America made the decision to elect Barack Obama President of the United States.  What’s frightening to me, though, is how many Americans were willing to vote for a ticket that includes someone this unqualified, evangelical, and unable to articulate a cogent thought.  My hypothesis… Americans saw an attractive woman in a skirt and voted for the person they wanted to see on television.

I know, that’s probably a wee bit unfair, but ask yourself – if you couldn’t see Sarah Palin on television, would you even consider voting for her?  Would the country consider a vice-presidential candidate that doesn’t know what a VP does, can’t name a periodical, didn’t have a passport until the year of their running for office, and considers being able to see Russia from a small island off the coast of Alaska foreign policy?  I don’t think they would, even looking at whatever good they wanted to find in her voice, American’s aren’t that stupid.

So where does it stand now?  There is talk that Sarah Palin will be running on the Republican ticket in 2012, virtually assuring Barack Obama another term in office.  There’s also talk that when Alaska loser Senator and convicted felon Ted Stevens is booted from office that she’ll make a run for that seat.  In a state that would re-elect a convicted felon, it’s quite likely she could stand a chance of winning that run, too.  On that, though, I may be beating a dead horse.  I’m just tired of hearing her voice and hope you are, too.

Fortunately, all is not lost, because this weeks election resulted in a significant number of democrats being elected into senate, which would likely create a difficult road for Stevens if he tried to keep his seat.  The Washington post says it best:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said this week that even if Stevens wins his race, he shouldn’t expect to keep his job on Capitol Hill. “The reality is that a convicted felon is not going to be able to serve in the United States Senate,” Reid said. “And as precedent shows us, Senator Stevens will face an ethics committee investigation and expulsion, regardless of his appeals process.”

Of course, this is where it gets entertaining.  As we all know from other articles, Sarah Palin has some lipstick and $150,000 in clothing (when are they going to donate those clothes?) that might just help her become the frontrunner if any special election should be called.  Sounds like bad news for the Democratic challenger, Mark Begich, and bad news for Alaska.  Of course, this is the same state that’s considering a convicted felon a viable candidate for office – maybe they’ll get what they deserve.

Sarah Palin Goes Prep

Win or lose, Sarah Palin seems ready to stick around Washington as Reuters is now reporting and that it’s likely, regardless of discouragement seemingly being offered by the citizens of America, that she thinks she stands a chance.

“I think that, if I were to give up and wave a white flag of surrender against some of the political shots that we’ve taken … I’m not doing this for naught,” Palin told ABC News in a taped interview airing on Thursday.

At the same time, she has also been quoted multiple times as saying, “”I truly believe that the wisdom of the people will be revealed on that day.”  If they vote Obama into office, are the American people still wise?

At this point I think there is more to the Sarah Palin story.  It’s just not obvious yet what that story is.  Although, from what I can see today it would seem that she’s more likely to stay in the limelight for a bit and then it is quite likely that she will slip back into obscurity sometime in the future.  Just a feeling, but eventually the criticism that she’s been taking will take its toll.

West Hollywood isn’t the most conservative area of the country and the mostly gay community isn’t usually full of people protesting the treatment of ultra-conservative, Republican Christians like Sarah Palin, but some neighbors recently went protesting to the home of Chad Michael Morisette, a professional window display designer, who has a life-size mannequin of Palin in front of his house.  No, they’re not upset that a representation of Palin has come into their neighborhood – they’re upset because Sarah Palin is hanging from a noose wrapped around her neck with McCain right above her.

“They told us we respect you as artists, we’re just concerned about the effect on the community,” Morrisette said. “I don’t resent them. I’m not angry at them. I respect their rights.” Morrisette, 28, said he talked by phone last night with West Hollywood Mayor Jeffrey Prang. He said Prang told them that he respected his first amendment rights but urged him to take down the display. “He said, “Think of the bigger picture,’” Morrisette said. “I told the mayor I will have it down by 8 a.m. Saturday. He said, ‘Thank you, the sooner the better.”
