Vote Today for a Free Sex Toy (and some other perks)

November 4, 2008 · Posted in Political

Today’s earlier post already alluded to the possibility of felony charges in some states for bribing people to vote, but apparently mainstream America – givers and receivers – could care less.  They’re voting because they want to or they’re voting for the perks – either way the votes are getting cast and the rewards are out there.

This could be good or bad for Americans, who hopefully are smart enough to know that their vote cannot be bought and that the ultimate reward is in knowing that they’ve expressed themselves for democracy and that they can hold their head up high.

Still, not reason to pass up a free something or another, or something more, so get out there and see what you can get.  Following the jump is a list of what we’ve seen out there so far:

  • Coffee: Starbucks is giving out free tall (small) coffees to anyone who says they voted.  In a charge of heart based on law, their spokeswoman has confirmed that voters and non-voters can both get a free coffee on Starbucks today.  Groundwork coffee shops will offer a complimentary 12-ounce coffee or a $1 off any other beverage in honor of the election.
  • Ice Cream: Ben and Jerry’s will give you a free scoop between 5:00 and 8:00PM tonight, regardless of whether you voted or not.  This famous Vermont company is simply celebrating Democracy.
  • Donuts: Krispy Kreme will give you a red-white-and-blue sprinkled star shaped donut if you are wearing an “I Voted” sticker.  My local KK said that sticker can be masking tape if you’re not inclined to vote and still want a free donut.
  • Cheescake: Lucky Chicago residents can swing by Eli’s Cheesecake Company while who is handing out free slices to voters.  Even if you don’t live in the Windy City you can get a free 6-inch cheesecake (with purchase) at their website www.elicheesecake.com.  Make sure to use Promo Code VOTE8.
  • Music: Rock the Vote will give you eight free MP3 songs to download if you pledge to vote at www.rockthevote.com/pledge.
  • Clothing and Stuff: Trina Turk (if you live near one of their boutiques) is offering 20% off up to three items for anyone wearing the fashionable “I Voted” sticker.  French Connection is offering 15% off their duds.
  • Food:  Most Daily Grill restaurants will offer a free appetizer.  Pitfire Pizza in Los Angeles is offering a  bottle of Jones Soda or a draft beer.
  • Fast Food: Chick-fil-A restaurants (New Jersey Only) are offering a free chicken sandwich to voters.  Chattanooga Hot Dog Company is giving out weiners.
  • Beauty Salons: 50% off services at Cristophe Salons in Beverly Hills and Newport Beach.
  • Mexican Grub: California Taco is giving out free tacos.
  • Ribs: Shane’s Rib Shack is giving out whole meals of three chicken tenders, fries and a drink.
  • Booze: Todd Conner’s pub in Baltimore is giving out free beer!
  • Sex Toys: Babeland locations in SoHo, the Lower East Side and Carroll Gardens will give men a free $20 “Maverick” penis sleeve. Women get a free $15 silver bullet mini-vibrator.  (And you thought you had seen everything).

More perks will be added to this list as I get them, but even if your area doesn’t have support like this I think it’s imortant that you take advantage of the biggest perk voting offers – the perk of being heard and voting.  Nothing else in this country empowers you as much as your vote today.
